Mindbridge Meeting Minutes Wednesday May 5th, 2020 online using Zoom

  1. Call to Order
  2. Minutes – reading waived
  3. Treasurer’s Report – up $4k from last month
  4. Convention Reports
    1. AnimeIowa
      1. Progressing
      2. Adjusting convention strategy for social distancing, possible attendance changing
      3. Safety of attendees and staff is critical
      4. Staff meeting online at 2 pm on Saturday May 9th
    2. ICON
      1. Had a Website Touchbase Meeting on May 3, 2020 at 1 PM
      2. Terri working on ICON website
      3. Meeting on slack last Saturday for ICON website.
      4. Registration statement: “We have chosen to delay registration opening to help us make socially responsible decisions regarding ICON 45. We are monitoring our situation, and will have a further announcement when registration is open.”
      5. Concerns about how will covid-19 change ICON.
      6. Open call for programming end of May, plan to close in August.
      7. Will have google sheet showing programming suggestions.
      8. Concom not planning to invite any additional guests at this time.
      9. Tony P offered to be guest as podcaster at no cost to ICON.
    3. Gamicon
      1. Had a great convention, lucky it wasn’t a couple weeks later.
      2. Looking at how to cut costs if there is a downturn in attendance.
      3. Concern about tabletop.events with so many gaming conventions postponed or canceled. Several Mindbridge members are supporting Con of Champions online gaming convention to raise money to keep tabletop.events running. It will be May 23-25, 2020.   5. Other Projects
    1. Game Library: Looking at ways to loan games to people during the stay at home; please contact Michele if you have suggestions.
    2. Book Group: discussing Clockwork Angel: The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare on Monday, May 25, 2020 at 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm At this time, we expect that this discussion will happen virtually. Exact details will be shared via our mailing list as we get closer to the day of the meeting. Contact Michele if you want an invite to the online meeting.
    3. Video Game Library: no updates
  6. Old Business
    1. COVID-19 Discussion: lots of discussion about how it may effect both AnimeIowa, ICON as well as Gamicon.
  7. New Business
    1. Annual Meeting Details: Saturday, May 9th at noon, online only using Zoom. Link was sent out separately via the email list. Adam Brower’s board seat is up for election, he is not running again. Three people said they are thinking about running for that position and will think about it.
