Mindbridge Meeting Minutes – Wed Feb 1, 2017 7 pm at ARC of Southeast Iowa

    1. Gamicon – February 24-26, 2017 at Cedar Rapids Marriott
      1. Next staff meeting: Sunday Feb 12 at Ryans 6:30 pm
      2. Using Guidebook
      3. Over 250 scheduled gaming events so far, looking for DnD 5e GM’s
      4. Pre-convention storage locker audit Sunday Feb 5 from 1-4 pm at storage locker
      5. Gamicon storage locker run for convention: Thursday Feb 23 5 pm dinner at Peking Buffet followed by going to storage locker by 6:30 PM
    2. AnimeIowa
      1. Next staff meeting: Saturday Feb 11 2 PM at Coralville Marriott for new and old staff members, food, fun, etc
    3. ICON
      1. Next staff meeting: Saturday Feb 18 1:30 PM at Coralville Public Library
      2. Sending flyers, postcards and business cards to Cedar Rapids Comic Con with Game Library gurus
      3. Pre-planning committee submitted proposed contracts for ICON 43 Oct 5-7, 2018 and ICON 44 Oct 4-6, 2019 at Cedar Rapids Marriott. Moved, seconded and passed to approve signing the contracts.

    1. Game Library: Friday Feb 10 5-8 pm, The Hobby Corner Iowa City, Dragon and Flagon
      1. The Game Library will also be at the Cedar Rapids Comic Con on Saturday Feb 4, 2017; meeting at storage locker to load on Friday Feb 3 at 5 pm to load tubs and shelving; meeting at back of Cedar Rapids Doubletree (loading docks) on Sat Feb 4 at 7 AM; meeting at Storage Locker to return tubs and do pre-con audit for Gamicon on Sunday Feb 5 from 1-4 pm.
    2. Book Group: Monday Feb 13, 6 pm, Scooter’s Coffee, The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher
    3. Video Game Library: in planning, Jay is doing an inventory for Gamicon

    1. Clubhouse – (Marty and Michele are looking into this), will report after Gamicon
    2. Storage Locker keys or lack thereof: we need to know who has a locker key, if you have a key let Michele Maakestad know as the locks will be changing.

    1. Receiving Gamicon 2018 bid + request to take pre-reg at Gamicon Fe
      1. bid for Gamicon 2018 by Tim Rudzianski, Rebecca Smith and Sean Howard submitted and accepted as a bid, will be voted on at next Mindbridge meeting
      2. request to take pre-reg at Gamicon Fe – moved, seconded,passed. Probable date is Feb 23-25, 2018.
    2. Sponsorship of Iowa City Robotics #167
      1. Moved, seconded and passed to sponsor at the Gold Level for $2,000.00 if we get a logo on the robot, all four logos on the team t-shirts and demo of the robot at the conventions. The team moto is “Children of the Corn”, website is http://iowacityrobotics.org/
    3. Gamicon requested $300 to try Event Espresso for Event Registration & Ticketing Management Plugin for WordPress. Board approved the trial with the restriction that all gathered information must be kept private.
    4. AnimeIowa asked for approval to change the approved request to help pay for URIZEN who is no longer available for the needed dates to instead be Psychostick. Moved, seconded and passed.
    5. Announcement: Dreamwell Theatre, Iowa City’s theater of exploration, invites you to attend KaraokeCon — where comic book conventions and singers collide in an unprecedented evening of fun and frivolity! This event will be held in the back room of The Mill on Friday, Feb 3 — doors will open at 7pm and singing will commence no later than 8pm — suggested cover at the door is $5 with all proceeds benefiting Dreamwell Theatre! Bring some extra cash if you plan to get on stage as we’re expecting you to pay to sing — all in support of Dreamwell Theatre! Come dressed as your favorite superhero, super villain or movie/musical character — costumes are NOT required but there will be a contest at the end of the evening with prizes for best costumes. Dreamwell will also have a photo booth that evening so you can take selfies and group shots to remember the crazy night! The Mill’s complete drink and food menu will be available to sustain you through the evening.
