Mindbridge Meeting Minutes – October 5, 2016 – 7 pm – The ARC of SE Iowa

  1. Call to Order
  2. Minutes – posted online, approved.
  3. Treasurer’s Report – we have less than last month after paying bills.
  4. Convention Reports
    1. ICON
      1. Next staff meeting Saturday Oct 15, 1:30 PM, Coralville Public Library.
      2. Programming is almost done. There will be room parties including Demicon and Klingons.
      3. Pre-registration closes October 14th.
      4. Room block closes Oct 6!
    2. Gamicon
      1. Next staff meeting Sunday Oct 16, 6:30 PM at Ryans.
      2. A very basic web site is now up.
      3. Mailing is coming out early November.
    3. AnimeIowa
      1. Next staff meeting Saturday Oct 15, 2 PM, location to be announced.
      2. Senior staff in place, looking at filling in other positions.
  5. Other Projects
    1. Game Library — The Hobby Corner, Friday, October 14th, 5-8 pm Dead of Winter, The Long Night
    2. Book Group – Monday, October 17th, 6 pm, Scooter’s Coffee (formerly Coffesmith’s), Rosemary and Rue by Seanan McGuire.
      • Note – Seanan McGuire is the Guest of Honor at this month’s ICON!

    1. Iowa City Book Fair
      1. Saturday, October 8th, 10am — 4 pm.
      2. Setup starts between 9 and 9:30 AM. Extra help always appreciated, excellent opportunity for ICON publicity.
    2. Extra-Life Gaming Marathon — The Hobby Corner, Saturday November 5th — 6th 10 am -10 am. (Jon)
      1. Board approved matching funds up to $499 for this charity event.
      2. Jon and Michele Maakestad are helping fundraise.

    3. Adam Brower asked about empty Public Relations Officer on Mindbridge web web site. Moved, seconded and passed to stick him with have him do the job.
    4. Moved, seconded and passed to setup back-up web forms for recording and requesting Mindbridge points with data going to online spreadsheet shared with the board.
    5. For anyone interested, Xenocon is this weekend in Davenport.
    6. Secretary said someone has a birthday on Thursday, Victoria now dislikes the secretary, everyone wished her a happy birthday.
