ConCom (Not close to done yet!)
If you didn't already know, ConCom is the group of at least three people committed to ensuring ICON continues to be a success. They choose staff and have the final say if there is disagreement.

Coordinates and works as a liaison between staff members. Organizes and plans meetings. Attends Mindbridge Meetings and gives progress reports. Works to fill vacant staff positions. Is responsible for making sure all staff responsibilities are carried out if there is a vacant staff position(s). Facilitates closing ceremonies.

To become ConCom:

Read the ICON Manifesto. There is a link to it in the site map to the left.

About 18 months before the convention (IE about 6 months before upcoming ICON) get together a group of at least three people to be proposed concom together with suggested ideas for guests of honor and which hotel you would like to have it.

Submit a proposal with budget to Mindbridge. Current treasurer can help you get a tentative budget.

If approved by Mindbridge then you can work on getting a contract signed with hotel if one has not already been signed and asking guests of honor. Strongly suggest working with current concom and hotel liason on hotel contract.

Important: it must not on a home game weekend and preferably not Halloween as several venders, authors and artists as well as the Haldemans cannot attend.

Once your proposal is accepted by Mindbridge

Start asking people to be staff for next year's ICON.

Prepare program book ad for the upcoming ICON.

At the ICON (the one a year before the one you will be running) make sure you attend the How Did We Do panel. You may want to have a panel on Sunday talking about the ICON you are planning. You should be at Closing Ceremonies as that's where you will be formally introduced.

Schedule monthly staff meetings, third Saturday seems to work good but try to not be on same day as monthly AI meetings. Don't forget recap meeting after your convention.

Schedule a locker audit/tagging at the last meeting before the convention.
