Film Group Starting up

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Are you interested in movies? Mindbridge is starting a film group! Any film with a fantastic element would be fair game. We'll meet to pick films a wide range of films that we can Netflix, lend, or rent, and then set a meeting time to discuss those films over coffee after we've viewed them on our own. Break out your beret or your Blue Ray, and let's talk movies. If you're interested, contact Bryon Stump at stumpb@netins.net

Book Discussion Group: Valor’s Choice

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

The Mindbridge Book Discussion Group met on September 15th at the Coffee Talk Cafe in Cedar Rapids to discuss "Valor's Choice" by ICON's Author Guest of Honor for 2008, Tanya Huff. Our regular note-taker had one wing in a sling, but still managed to get the highlights of the discussion posted over at Writer Tamago. If you've read Valor's Choice but didn't have a chance to make the Book Group's discussion, we are working with ICON to arrange a Q&A session with Tanya Huff to discuss "Valor's Choice".

REMINDER: Cath has arranged for next month's author, Mark Henry to answer any questions we come up with by reading Happy Hour of the Damned. In order for this to work, you'll need to submit your questions by October 10th!

Book Discussion Group: The Magic Thief

Monday, August 4th, 2008

The Mindbridge Book Discussion Group met back on July 14th at the Coffee Talk Cafe in Cedar Rapids to discuss The Magic Thief. The nimble-fingered Writer Tamago posted the notes she took over at her blog. And as an extra bonus, since our book discussion Sarah Prineas has had another piece of short fiction featured over at Pod Castle. It's called The Illuminated Dragon and is well worth a listen!

Book Discussion Group: The Dead Zone

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

The Mindbridge Book Discussion Group met this evening at the Coffee Talk Cafe in Cedar Rapids to discuss The Yiddish Policeman's Union. Our general consensus was the book was good but in spite of winning the Nebula Award, it was not a Science-Fiction novel. Once again Cath took notes of the discussion and posted them over at Writer Tamago. Did anybody else out there read the book? If so, what were your thoughts?

And don't forget to mark your calendars, as we'll be meeting next month to discuss The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas on July 14th. Don't forget the author will be joining us that day, so bring your questions for her!
