More fun!
Been busy this month, folks — a lot of groups to meet with, ideas to throw around. But I thought I’d get this into the system as soon as I could.
Most, if not all of you, are already aware that we’ll be featuring Wylde Nept at our Friday night soiree this ICON 30. What you may not know is that we also have another fabulous musical group, The Flatland Ramblers, to fill out our musical inventory for the show.
I first saw these terrific folks atDemiCon, and was immediately impressed. Composed of two gentleman and a lady, this is probably the smallest package of pure talent I’ve encountered in some time. Billing themselves as “mountain music for plain folks,” their instrumental style is, I believe, much more varied than that, with tunes that recall one’s distant childhood, as in old Civil War campfire tunes, to lively and uplifting Irish jigs. In any shape or form, their work is delightful and charming in the extreme.
They should be with us the entire weekend, and I hope they will favor us with at least two performances. As an added bonus, they are in the throes of completing their very first CD for public sale, and this should be available for the first time at ICON 30!
