A Note to Professionals Attending
As always, we're hoping to see you at this year's ICON. As it's our 30th anniversary, we're pulling out all the stops to make it one of the most exciting and varied cons we've ever had. along with our usual fare of panels, readings, dealers, costume contest, anime films, art gallery and auction, we'll be having live music -- Wylde Nept and The Flatland Ramblers. We'll also be having one-act presentations by local theater groups, filking, larping, pagan celebrations by IPAN, and debut films by the Iowa Independent Filmmakers Association. In additon, we also have the first media guest we've had in a long time -- Arlene Martel, better known among fans as Spock's wife in the original Star Trek series.
As you might guess, none of this is cheap, and expenses have been extraordinarily high this year due in part to the programming we're providing. Consequently, we will unfortunately no longer be able to provide free membership to all professional guests. We are, however, still able to offer the deep discount of $15.00 for all professionals who pre-register before October 1st.
On the other hand, if you are interested in actively participating in our programming, either by serving on panels, discussion groups, or assisting as a volunteer, we would be happy to discuss comping your entrance fee. Despite the change in pricing policy, we very much hope you will choose to attend. This should be a highlight year for ICON and we promise an exciting and illuminating weekend for all our guests and attendees. Invasion ICON, without doubt, be the party of the year!
